All the way along our coastline we are blessed with fabulous beaches and salt marshlands from Brightlingsea to Harwich.
Holland on sea and Holland Haven are the best and closest beaches to Holland Beach Bungalow. The sandy beaches are hugged by rocky ‘fishtail’ bays, boulders placed to stem coastal erosion. On calm days you can paddle board between the ‘fishtails’. We have plenty of brave locals who swim all year round as part of the BlueTits, even Christmas Day. You can see people doing beach yoga, thai chi, cycling, walking or running the promenade.
Being The North Sea, it can be chilly, but wait until May-July and usually the sea is lovely and warm for swimming. There is a plethora of additional water sports to indulge in - jet ski, water ski, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kite surfing, paddle boarding, to name a few (search online for local providers). Sea fishing from the beach is often enjoyed all year round. Kite flying is also popular at the Haven on windy days.
The Haven is also home to an extensive salt marshland area and offers hides for birdwatching and stunning walks to Frinton. There are public footpaths from Holland, past the Haven and along to Frinton and Walton via the sea wall. You can also walk from Holland towards Clacton. The promenade has plenty of kiosks and public toilets and is fully accessible for dogs (check the beach signs).
For our closest public recreation ground for swings, to kick a ball around or to walk the dog, head to the Eastcliff playing field 200 yards away.
