The Naze and backwaters

Just a 15 minute drive away you can visit Walton on the Naze, a local beauty spot which offers fabulous walking. On route, you will head through the faded grandeur of Walton, a Victorian seaside resort with the UK’s 3rd longest pier.  

Park in the Naze carpark at the top of the cliffs. Make sure you visit the Naze Tower to see local artist exhibitions, get fabulous coffee and cake, and climb right to the top of the tower for a superb 360 degree view of the area.  

There is a lovely coastal walk from the Naze carpark down the cliff paths and beach to a fast eroding, fossil rich headland. 

There are usually people fossil hunting on the beach. Continue walking to a beautiful sand spit and salt marsh retained by a sea wall. 

Here you will find views looking out over the backwaters and towards Felixstowe. You can loop back towards the carpark by going along the grassy footpaths which shelter you from the prevailing wind. Wellies are advised footwear in winter.  For the more adventurous, there is also a ~4 mile route looping you along
